Sunday School

Twice in one week. You should feel lucky!

I wanted to share with you how wonderful church was. Sunday school was one of the best lessons I have been to in a while. It was on receiving revelation. We talked about what you need to do to prepare yourself to receive revelation. The teacher gave a great example about why being obedient is so important for the revelatory process: every time you are disobedient it is like putting a sock on your hand. The more disobedient you are the more socks you get on your hand (until you repent) after a while you won't be able to hold or identify objects in your hand. So if we are disobedient  we have a hard time recognizing the revelations God sends us. I hope I can be more obedient to my Heavenly Father so I can recognize when He is talking to me and be ready to obey right away. The lesson was so full of the Spirit I decided right then I wanted to keep the Spirit that strong with me always not just on Sundays. The biggest thing I miss about my mission is constantly being led by and obeying the Spirit. My goal this week to accomplish this is I am only going to listen to "church" music for one week. It has been two days and it is a little harder then I thought. It is a habit to just turn my ipod on and go about my work. I decided I need to get a CD player I can move around the house. Already in the past few days I have noticed I can feel the Spirit stronger in my life.
This experience has reminded me about a time on my mission. My companion and I had some problems with one another we didn't get along at all. Because of that we didn't have companions studies for the full hour we were supposed to. We would kind of drag our feet to start and finish early so we could leave the house right at 10. We finally talked about it, worked some things out and made a goal to be more obedient and have better companion studies. One day shortly after that my companion and I had a busy morning but we found ourselves with no plans for the afternoon. We thought we had over planned but we had one hour with nothing to do. We pulled over and said a prayer to help us know what would be the best use of our time. We both had the thought we needed to go visit a certain less-active in the ward. Neither of us had meet this family because we had been told by our bishop they did not want to be contacted by anyone in the ward. I was really nervous to go but we followed the Spirit and went. The whole family is now active. I know the Lord sent us the revelation we needed and so many lives are blessed because of it, mine included.

  1. Thanks for the inspiration! I have followed the promptings of the Spirit twice in two days that have made dramatic differences in my current situation and feel as you do, that I want to feel this guidance in my life every day. Thanks for the great suggestions.
